Recently in online comments I noticed hypocrisy and double standards of modern early Gen X parents. They consciously eschew justice in favor of favoritism. When their own kids or their age peers commit deliberate acts of vandalism theft and violence, they say it's nothing and we should "let kids play". However, when some guy accidently crushed his car into a kid's bicycle at very low speed, no one injured and nothing damaged, they create an online shitstorm, calling on their peers to launch a joint lawsuit to jail the driver for live.
That is unacceptable case of double standards. Not only that but this biased treatment of children contributes to recent youth crime epidemic. Parents not only ignore their role in explaining laws and boundaries to their kids but possibly even actively encourage them to break law.
This is harmful and damaging for society as a whole and must be stopped.
Some serious enquiries into parents and guardians of this kids are also a necessity. If they encourage kids to break law or say it's alright, then it is parents who should be jailed.
I hope an investigation into this phenomenon will happen soon.
