I was thinking recently on why certain fashion and culture trends last for a decade or so and then suddenly disappear.
Some might think that they fell out of fashion. People get bored and moved on. Probably some people operate in this manner, they follow trends and change as trends change.
However, that is not all there is.
Sometimes trends of the past do come back. Even if fashion changed some stick to the old ways and some never follow fashion to begin with.
I personally inclined to see it not as culture and fashion change and everyone on board, but rather as if culture eras change one another like, governments change after the elections.
Even if one party wins the government and another one goes in opposition, the opposition party does not disappear. They stay loyal to their policies and views and try to win government back.
I think culture too probably consists of several culture tribes or parties. This tribes change each other at the top of the pile, however other culture tribes do not disappear. They continue to exist, just less visible and with less numbers than culture of the current era.
Thus, I am currently in opposition to the culture of the 2010s era. They will lose eventually, and we will form a government.
Thus, current culture trends are temporary and will be gone, the sooner the better.
What are the tribes?
I think it is appropriate to divide culture into 4 tribes.
Astrology has 4 elements, MBTI divides its 16 personalities into four groups: Analysts, Diplomats, Guardians and Explorers. There are also four tempers. Anime about cute girls often have 5 heroines, but 5th is often somewhat of a catch all person, read my analysis of these types in a separate article.
Using MBTI terms, I think culture of 2000s were Explorers culture.
While culture of the 2010s seems more like Guardian culture.
Hopefully next will be Analyst culture.
I am INTJ and thus analyst, I want my era in culture.
I do not like Guardians much, ISFJ and ESFJ possibly alright, but ESTJ is bane of existence. At least based on how I understand these types.
