More on Thugs and Thugish-ness

That post about thugs and thuggish-ness got me thinking more. While some of my friends are probably somewhat thuggish. My past friends from Russia that is, I do not keep much contact with them anymore.

However, that is not the reason why they are my friends, more of a coincidence.

Coincidence caused by the fact that Russia is a thuggish country. Because of that everyone there is more or less thuggish. From president to schoolkids.

While some revel in this filth around them and love their thuggish motherland, others do not. 

Me and my friends are of the second type. We did not like the thug-land we were born it and wished for a different life. I managed to achieve that and emigrated to Australia.

However, we still needed skills to survive in thug-land. Otherwise, we would have been killed by it. 

Because of these skills, we can look like thugs ourselves, especially in the eyes of people who grew up in much more peaceful and safer place. Some girls can even be infatuated by this wild, rough and gritty character.

The stupidest thing they can do in this situation is try being as wild and thuggish as us. We, who escaped thug-land, do not wish to see any more of it. If we liked it so, we could have just stayed there.

In the end of the day, they can only attract other imitators with this kind of faux thuggish-ness.

On Intercultural Relationship

In the end of the day, relationship in thug land build on much the same things as they are in safe lands. There are probably some exceptions as certain things are not relatable to people of different cultures. In fact, connection based on shared culture is not possible at all, as cultures are clearly different.

However, things such as kindness, care, love, support, common goals, common values, and such. Being warm and kind to me is the same in any language and culture.

They are not built on competition in who is thuggier. Some probably indeed build them this way, but not all.

For example, Rock joined the Lagoon Company because they were nice and protective to him. 

His Japanese company simply wrote him of as expendable and told him on the phone that someone from the management will attend his funeral.

In fact, Black Lagoon characters are good example of people who ended up thugs not because they like it, but because of circumstances. They did not choose this just like me and my friends did not choose to be born in Russia. 

They are full of bitterness, self-pity and anger. They both hate and envy those who have it better than them.

People who see them as nothing more that wild gun touting psychos, really do not understand the show. They do not understand their personal tragedies that made them this way.

Without understanding these tragedies, they will not be able to ever connect or understand them.

I too envy those who have more money, safer and easier live than me. Why would not I. I will write about my own experience separately.
