Back during the Reformation Christianity broadly divided itself into Catholic and Protestant. The differences between two were important enough to fight wars, kill and expel people and do such radical things.
Nowadays Christianity likes to present a unified image and many just call themselves Christian. However, what Christian means varies drastically based on what theological school a person came from. Differences between Catholics and Protestants have nod disappeared, they just got hidden. If some Christians of broadly Protestant tradition would try to prophesize faith through charity, then Catholics would instead push their totalitarian scaremongering with eternal damnation in hell under the same Christian label. However fundamentally these are very different things, and they affect people in vastly different ways.
I think some clear distinction between these traditions are needed. Otherwise, people would not know what they are dealing with.
